This week we are joined by Carla Korbes, former Pacific Northwest Ballet Principal Dancer.  Carla was born in Brazil and moved to New York to study at the School of American Ballet at the age of 15.  In 2000, she joined the New York City Ballet as a member of the corps and was promoted to soloist in 2005.  Later that year, she moved to Seattle to join Pacific Northwest Ballet under the direction of Peter Boal, a former podcast guest.  Since her retirement from PNB in 2015 at the age of 33, she has been working as associate artistic director for LA Dance Project.  Later this month she will be starting her new position at Indiana University as associate professor of music in ballet.  Today we talk with her about her early career at City Ballet, what prompted her move to Seattle, and what post-retirement life looks like for her now.  We talked to Carla as a part of our time covering the Vail Dance Festival.
